What is Ashwagandha?
Ashwagandha is a root long used in Ayurvedic practice, with well over a thousand years of history as a men's tonic in traditional Indian medicine.
What does the research say?
A 2012 randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of 64 adults under chronic stress, published in an Indian psychiatry journal, reported significant reductions in stress-scale scores and serum cortisol over sixty days with a full-spectrum root extract, with a safety profile comparable to placebo.
More recently, a 2021 systematic review in Advances in Nutrition examined 32 randomized trials of 13 herbs and singled out Ashwagandha as one of only two with consistent evidence for supporting testosterone in men.
